Oil is still a preferred heating option because you can have it delivered anywhere, it doesn’t require a pipeline.

Oil alone cannot generate heat, so the system features an oil banner that is responsible for turning the oil into heat you can use in your home. Inside the oil burner, you will find a spray nozzle, which is the main component responsible for turning the oil into usable heat. An electrode spark gap provides the spark needed to ignite the heating oil.

The cool red color associated with heating oil is actually a dye. The reason this is done is that heating oil and diesel fuel for cars are quite similar, and either fuel can be used for both applications. The main difference between heating oil and diesel fuel is the latter is taxed by the federal government while the former isn’t.

So you can use this untaxed fuel for your boiler, but not in your car.
