Can Exercise Help You Look Younger?
You can look years younger and reverse physical signs of aging, and you can do it all-naturally, too, according to Canadian researchers. A new study published in Counsel and Heal shows regular exercise can actually change the composition of your skin, ultimately getting rid of fine lines and wrinkles? How does it work, and what are some other, all-natural ways to look and feel younger?
Hit The Gym For Youthful Skin
Good news, gym rats! According to a new study, regular exercise can actually reverse the physical signs of aging. The study focused on seniors — participants ages 65 and up. Exercise help tighten, firm, and reshape their skin. With regular exercise, participants’ skin was closer in composition to 20 and 30 year olds instead of their aging peers.
Favor Natural Collagen Products
“Wrinkles are the result of a loss of collagen, the main structural protein of the skin. As you age, the body begins to produce less of it, which keeps skin from being as firm as it was when you were younger,” ABC News explains. Collagen skincare products, such as collagen anti wrinkle cream, contain peptides that reverse this process by naturally stimulating the body’s collagen production. With more collagen, collagen anti wrinkle creams, get rid of wrinkles, fine lines, and other imperfections.
Be Smart About Tanning and The Beach
The sun can do a vast amount of damage to our skin. Play it safe by avoiding artificial tanning beds whenever possible. (Spray tans are suitable alternatives for special occasions.) If you are going to spend several hours at the beach, remember to carefully apply (and re-apply!) sunscreen lotion. Remember tanning oils and tanning lotions often contain very low SPFs — or sometimes do not offer any sun protection. Read all labels, and plan accordingly!
Naturally restore the elasticity and firmness of your skin. Exercise four to five times a week, be careful and smart at the beach, and choose only the best collagen skincare products.
