When students have a big test coming up — be it the SAT, ACT, GRE, or some other exam — they need to do everything they possibly can to prepare. They need to not only receive college test prep tutoring, but also study for ACTs, SATs, GREs, or whichever other test in the most efficient way possible. If they don’t, they will literally be wasting time they could have spent on other material, covering more ground, and becoming more prepared.
Luckily, there are plenty of things students can do to make good use of their test prep review time. Here are just a few tips that can help.
Study to the Rhythm.
Music is an instrumental part of making efficient use of test prep review time. (Pun intended.) However, students need to listen to the right genres. Loud, aggressive music can be distracting, and actually hamper more than help. Instead, students should try listening to classical, baroque, ambient, movie scores, deep house, video game soundtrack, and even hip hop instrumentals when doing test prep review.
Be in the Right Place.
Some spots are just better places to study. Cafes and libraries, in particular. The ambient noise of a cafe and the calm, quiet, peace of a library create the perfect background soundtrack to help stimulate your mind. Plus, cafes have coffee, which can help you do test prep review even when the material feels impossibly boring. Libraries also have extra materials students can use to look up answers and get more studying done, too.
Eat Meaty Brain Foods.
Test prep review requires a lot of mental energy, so you need to fuel up. Your brain needs amino acids to communicate with itself, which are found in protein. Eating a protein rich breakfast will help you get more test prep review done throughout the day, so be sure not to skimp on the bacon, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, and/or cottage cheese.
