Body art and piercings are a billion-dollar industry in the United States. Americans spend on average $1.65 billion on tattoos and piercings every year. Fourteen percent of all Americans — about 45 million people — have at least one tattoo. Moreover, more than a third of Americans between the ages of 18 and 25 have a tattoo, if not several. The tattoo industry is booming. Needless to say, so are tattoo schools.
